CETME & H&K G3 battle rifles

After 1945, The engineers of the Mauser works who were developing the Sturmgewehr 45 fled to Spain to develop thier assault rifle design. The weapon designs were chambered in various calibres and was finally chosen to accept the 7.62 NATO calibre, The rifle became the CETME and entered service in the Spanish forces. The Mauser engineers then returned to Germany and developed the CETME rifle into the G3. Following the improvement and production of the G3 rifle, This was the beginning of the now world famous Heckler & Koch corporation.

The G3 was also produced under license by Springfield Armory under the name SAR-8.
